Projects are a feature that allows users to group servers together in a logical and organized way. Users can create a project, give it a name, and then add servers to it either manually or dynamically via tags. This feature is useful for grouping servers that have a specific function or purpose, and can be used to group servers by location, department, or application. Projects provide an easy way to view and manage servers as a group, and are used throughout InfraGuard to target groups of servers.

Projects configured with tags are dynamic and servers will be added to, or removed from, a project as tags are assigned or changed.

To create a project, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the dashboard: Once you are logged in to your account, you will be directed to the dashboard. This is the main page where you can view InfraGuard metrics, servers and projects. Projects are managed via the Projects Widget.

  1. Click on the "+ project" button: In the top right corner of the dashboard, you will see a button labeled "+ project". Click on this button to create a new project.

  1. Enter project details: In the pop-up window, you will be prompted to enter a name for your project.

Add servers to a project manually:

  1. Navigate to Clusters: Click on the "Clusters" button located in the left-hand sidebar.

  1. Expand Cluster and Select Servers: Choose the cluster that contains the servers you want to add to the project. Expand the cluster and select Servers.

  1. Once you have selected the servers, click on the "Actions" button located at the top of the server list.

  1. From the dropdown menu, select "Project".

  1. Select the Projects to add the servers to: A new window will appear where you can select the project(s) to which you want to add the selected servers. Choose the project(s) you wish to add the servers to and click on the "Select" button.

Add servers dynamically via tags: Alternatively, you can add servers to a project dynamically by using tags. To do this, while creating or editing a project, click on the "+ Tags" button and enter the Tag key and value (this is case sensitive). This will add all servers with the corresponding tag to the project.

Congratulations! You have successfully created a project and added servers to it. You can now view all your projects and servers on the dashboard, and easily manage them as needed.
